INTRODUCTION TO PERMANENT COSMETICS

I. Permanent Cosmetics, also referred to as Permanent Makeup and Dermal Micropigmentation, and para‑medical or reconstructive micropigmentation, is the professional practice of implanting color (pigment), into the dermal layer of the skin to enhance the tissue for cosmetic purposes. Micropigmentation has achieved professional standing within the scientific, medical, and cosmetology/aesthetic communities.
Pigments used in micropigmentation have been extensively tested, and are from the FDA's approved color additive chart. The pigments are made from iron and titanium oxides, which have been used for hundreds of years for tattooing, and are not absorbed by the body. They are safe and have very few reports of complications. Some doctors recommend patients with allergies or sensitivity to traditional cosmetics have permanent cosmetics.

How permanent is permanent?
Pigment implanted into the dermal layer of the skin is considered permanent because it cannot be washed off like traditional cosmetics and will remain in the dermis permanently. However, there is flexibility in color and shape change to some extent if desired. As with any tattoo, fading of the pigment can and will occur over time due to many factors such as skin exfoliation (both naturally and chemically), sun exposure, medications, and genetics (thick or thin skin). A touch‑up is required every 1 ½ ‑ 2 years to freshen up the color. By avoiding the use of Retin‑A, Alpha/Bata‑hydroxy and glycolic acid, and applying sunblock to pigmented areas (sunglasses for eyeliner), you can greatly increase longevity of the procedure.

II. The cosmetic procedures offered are eyebrows, eyeliner (top and/or bottom), lash enhancement, lip liner, full lip color and beauty marks. The most important aspect of permanent cosmetics is not that it looks as good as traditional cosmetics... it looks better!!!

Permanent Cosmetic Procedures
· A special prescription strength topical anesthetic is applied to the area to be treated so the procedure is comfortable and relaxing.
· Each procedure is designed on an individual basis.
· I evaluate the shape of the client's face, in its entirety, to ensure a beautiful, flattering, result. Facial contours (forehead, brow, cheek bones, nose and chin) and facial features such as position of eyes, nose and lips are essential considerations in determining the best placement and shape for the enhancement.
· Next, I analyze the client's skin tone, hair and eye color to ascertain the most complementary color. A wide variety of colors are available to choose from that can be custom blended for each client. All color pigments are safe and approved on the FDA color additive chart.

By collectively identifying all of the above listed factors, I am able to achieve balance to the client's facial contours and features, for a stunning transformation.
